Fran came to us to get a few things done. Here is the Team Burst spec intercooler setup we transformed his FMIC into. We started with his godspeed FMIC kit whick looks good from the outside...
But bad from the inside...
We used what was there and did a little cut and paste
Martins tig weld up close
The difference between ours and theirs from the inside
We cut the end tanks and made a small radius 90 degree bend using several sections of mandrel bent tube
now the IC is way farther back from the front end. When the car came in it was crushed in one corner, and the fmic piping was in pretty bad shapre on one side, but now its hay bail spec
We probably cut out about 40 inches of intercooler pipe which should produce better response and crash protection as a bonus the cops cant see it from the outside
The transformation cost $450
We would like to build a kit that basically bolts on ready to go out of the box following this concept. Maybe it should go where the radiator is, and the radiator can move back 3" but that will require some relocation brackets. The concern is the headlight interference which we could not really see in frans car since they were missing.
its great. s14 and silvia ns13 should be fone. pop ups probably will need to be in permanent up mode like mine is with all the brackets and motors removed. u can look at mine i guess.
couldn't we avoid them by moving things back just a lil bit? or you think its not worth the extra cost for the new radiator / intercooler mounts versus bolting into the OEM radiator support?
that would be great but if you wanna keep the cost down for these budget people, it might be a bit much. and clutch fan may not work on Scahssis with the rad moved back.
