So firday i came home from tearing down that silver top and sat down with my youngest son and went to get out of our uber cushy couch and threw my back out. so im going to be mia for a while. dan if you get a chance give me a call so we can work out some numbers and talk about the BBQ that your tryin to set up. cuz im so down!!!
A Q from hachiroku.net; "i'd be interested in hearing how you plan on keeping the cost down on these.
for whatever reason (mostly the incorporated spindle), bolt-on corolla coilovers generally cost 6-700 dollars more than the same coils do for other applications. What areas will they have to cut corners in order to charge the same amount the do for an s-chassis setup? what type of spindle will be used, etc.
basically what I'm saying is. Stance charges 1100-1200 for s-chassis coils, but 1700-1800 for corolla application. DG-5 charges 2400 or so for s-chassis, but 3000 for corollas etc. This cant be for no reason. What measures is PBM going to take to charge 1000 bucks for these.
Basically I'd just like to know some details about how they will be built, the materials, components, etc."
i saw this post and in my own opinion i feel like they charge more for the corolla coilovers than they do for the say s chassis stuff is because well quite frainkly its projected sales. there going to sell a hell of alot more coils for s chassis than corollas for one there are more out there and there are 86's.. and as for the cut corners part lol well just becasue there afordable dose not meen there cutting corners. look at pbm's motto, they do not whole sale and there is no middle man. to keep the price point and over head down. this is just one way they are able to keep cost down. im sure dan will chime in here with other company specifics to back up what im saying.. if i need to re post this on hr.net i will no problem better yet tell them to join in on here...
The main thing i am looking for is the ease of replacement parts and quality build. A price comparable to the current lower end coil kits ( w/spindles) would be nice, but from what I hear the quality here should be worth it.
ugh...... dan im sorry man. thats all i can say.. seriously i know i never said the spindles would be included at that price and also never said the 1000 was set in stone for the coilover syste..
Corolla owners are cheap and lazy, make them use their own spindles. The thing I like about using my own spindles is that I get that peace of mind knowing I'm using the factory OEM spindles that were meant to be used with my hubs. Also using my own spindles allows me to pick and choose what which one I want to use (i.e. Celica, Supra, TE72, AE86, etc)
Also, in addition to most Corolla owners being cheap they also seem to have a different mind-state than other drifters. As per say 240 guys are usually on the look out for newer and better products most AE86 drivers are happy with the tried and true T3 coilover setup using GC sleeves, Eibach springs, and HTS inserts.
Another thing to consider is the design of the rear coilover. I've always liked the true coilover unit like the one T3 or Paradise Racing offers but it MAY have its downside, I'll post more on that later tonight.

If you don't think newer spindles were meant to be used with your hubs there's something a little off.
Now I know you like the OEM to OEM, but there are good identical copies as well that allow a person to NOT CHOP up OEM suspension and perhaps KEEP it or offer it to say my friend with a te72.
the greddy info online says that many of them are bent or have hairline cracks. I like the coil over damper for the rear because of spring selection and better ride height adjustability.
