Dan and Martin,
I would seriously reconsider your trip out here now.
The nuclear reactor has now become unstable and is in meltdown.

There is plenty of earthquakes to keep you happy over here if thats not enough.
I pray for Japan and all the people here that are affected by this disaster and the future of what may come.
sorry to post this type of info on the forums but the drifting community is a big part of my life and I hope this message is heard by those that I enjoy spending those times with.

That's strange. There are reports that Japanese people are upset because the media/government is releasing information late, risking the well being of the people. Or maybe they are just withholding information or a combination of both.

Yeah I heard from my Navy friends that they evacuated all dependents on base. By now all members are probably evacuated. I'm still curious about Yokota AFB though, they're even closer to plants than the Naval base in Yokosuka.

I used to be stationed @ Atsugi for the last two years, I am back here living as a civilian now. My roomate is still active duty and gets word WAY before media or even most people on base even hear about it. I am also home all day now watching the news 24/7 (seriously). so pretty much within minutes of anything crazy happening here I can keep you guys updated by a quick post.
keep checking back and post any questions you may have.
