When Drift Heaven magazine was invited to come to Korea and check out the new Hyundai genesis, Drift samurai(pro-drifter) was picked to give them advice on the drift car making. when they got there, they've already had the car on DG-5 suspension and some engine work. The catalog says 210hp, but when they hooked it up on the Dyno, it only made 185 wheel HP. The tuner shop went ahead and hooked up the intake and exhaust and up the boost to 1.15kg/cm2(0.7kg/cm2 stock) It made 232hp after the setting and the tuner also canceled the traction/electronic throttle control system for drift Samurai to test it out and shred. His first impression was " its slow, I thought it had an evo motor, the head must be different and its got a tiny tiny turbo." good thing the tuner canceled Electronic throttle control because Drift Samurai says "I would not be able to drift this thing with one." Beside the fact that this test car didn't have LSD Drift Samurai was able to get it side ways. Drift Samurai also says"it seems like a pretty good base car, not a super car, feels like a stock SR20, this car has a step into the tuning car category" Later that day, they brought another genesis with 3.8L, Factory LSD, but Drift Samurai could not get it side ways because this car didn't have the electronic throttle control cancelled.
Tips to Make Genesis drift from Drift Samurai Cancel Electronic throttle control Get LSD boost up, or get a bigger turbo steering mod(very little steering angle from the factory)
