hello everyone, I've got the pbm cobra-pipe installed on my s13 240sx, and I read, "Superior ground clearance without having to hammer factory metal (with manifolds that maintain OEM position). OEM heat shield must be removed. Down pipe runs paralell to the frame rail", but i have my heat shield installed no problems?
could i have installed incorrectly? I got my car dyno'd, and with a stock redtop at 10psi, made 222hp and 231lbs of tq.
also, my exhaust hangs a bit low where the test pipe is. i'll post a picture tomorrow to explain.
I could just be overly critical, but i dont think the exhaust is supposed to be that low? all my exhaust hangers have been replaced, and i'm even using the transission mount <div class='spacer'></div>
It's hard to tell exactly but you might just need to loosen all the bolted connections slightly, put a jack under the exhaust and jack it up as high as it can go then re-tighten the bolts.
The classic problem with the majority of mounts and manifolds on the KA is that they have a different turbo position than most SR's its about 2 inches above the OEM SR position, and this downpipe depends on that OEM SR position. So if the pipe is mounted in front 2 inches above where it wants to be, then it will hit the bottom forward corner of the firewall and that would cause the back side of the pipe to tilt down as shown in the photo above.
I've got an sr, and i tried getting better pictures to illustrate my issue. I'm considering just going to an exhaust shop and see what they have to say.
hey yall, i didnt use the lowest setting on the pbm downpipe. I got my car on a lift and effectively raised my exhaust so I dont scrape any longer! also no more test pipe rasp.
